I saw a rather wonderful thing this morning in the blogosphere - Ella Masters mentioned her list of 24 things she wanted to do before she turned 24. It has things on it like visiting other people, attending specific events, making some lifestyle changes, and so on.
I think this is a wonderful idea! I believe it's a really important part of living a happy and fulfilled life - think about what you really want to achieve or experience, and then set a deadline for yourself. It's not about beating yourself up about what you haven't yet achieved, or if you didn't make your deadline, I think it's more about loving your life, and filling your free time with things that really make you happy. For me, that involves not watching much television. The internet has far more.intelligent and interesting things to say.
Anyway, with no further ado, here is my list of 24 things I wish to achieve in the rest of the year before I turn 24.
1. Pass my driving test.
2. Visit my friend in Florida.
3. Go on a road trip.
4. Stop hoarding so much crap I don't need.
5. Run a marathon.
6. Win an arm wrestle against a boy.
7. Repaint my bedroom.
8. Get a pay rise.
9. Read all 7 Harry Potter books in French.
10. Buy a sofa.
11. Learn how to dance on pointe.
12. Sell something I've made myself.
13. Visit my auntie down south.
14. Visit my uncle who's less south.
15. See Scotland and England play in the 6 Nations at Twickenham.
16. Get some winter sun.
17. Go to a gig.
18. See a full length ballet.
19. Find the perfect toothbrush holder.
20. Do some street style posts on the blog.
21. Get a professional massage.
22. Swim in the sea.
23. Go to an air show.
24. Get a DSLR.
Do you have any ambitions for this year of your life? I'd love to hear about them!

Better Than I Thought
So you may remember that last year I wrote out my New Years Resolutions, with a different one for every month. You may also remember me talking about how determined I was to stick to them, and then already failing by February.
Well, I ignored my blog just about since then, because that's just how I roll, and I had a look back at it today and realised that I'm not actually doing so badly as you would have thought, given my lack of commitment or attention to the cause.
In January I wanted to start running. I didn't manage it in January but I started in April and I even ran in part of the Edinburgh Marathon at the end of May, as part of one of the relay teams (my team came 100 out of 701 so not too bad at all!)
The kitchen's clean a lot of the time now. Admitedly not at all right now, but I've had friends staying over and they love to make a mess and I've been so busy and not been home to clean up after them. Hopefully I'll get a little while tonight though.
I went on a date as well, and things seem to be going well in that direction. Not too much detail though, I'd probably better tell my mum these things in person before she reads them on my blog!
I didn't touch any photographs last month, which is a shame, but I have started to go through things and get rid of stuff I don't want. I don't like my messy room or having so much stuff I don't need, so I'm trying to make time to declutter and get everything tidy. Then it'll be easier to clean as well of course! But now I'm working full time and I have such a busy social schedule, it's been difficult to do too much so far.
July's resolution isn't due yet, but I've got Instagram for my phone now, which I really enjoy using, so I'm hoping that when it does come round then the photo resolution will be easy as pie!
As for my other resolutions for the year, I'm not sure how organised I'll really be for Christmas, and I don't think I'll be that interested in writing in November - I've got a few other ideas up my sleeve for projects and things to do, and I've so little free time anyway, I think I'm going to cut that one out and maybe do something different, or just concentrate on the others.
As a six month review, though, it seems as though I'm not doing too badly. I made resolutions based on some big changes that I really wanted to make in my life, especially about being more active and more organised, and those are things which I have actually made progress with. On the other hand, there's a couple in there which aren't really lifestyle changes, but rather projects that I want to address, and I'm just not going to have enough time for these things I don't think.

Not Very Resolute
I imagine a number of you will recall that I set myself a whole bundle of new years resolutions this year, which I am sorry to say, are already going terribly! Whilst I can aportion some blame to external causes, really the fault lies with me. For example, I didn't start running this month because I was ill for quite a lot of the time, and because the weather has been pretty horrible for running in. But I also didn't start running this month because I don't care very much about being thin. I want to care, of course, but actually, I'm comfortable with the way I look, most of the time, and I don't really enjoy exercise very much - I'm not very good at it to be perfectly honest.
Second on the resolutions list for January was to write a list of all of my friends' birthdays and put suggestions for things that I might buy them, however, I haven't done that I guess due to the lack of computer access that I've had - there's been nowhere much to save the file! But then, I also haven't bothered because my friends all tend to mention their birthdays far enough in advance that I can buy presents quite happily, but the pure fact of the matter is that I don't get birthday presents for most of my friends - and they don't get them for me either.
Finally we come to February's resolution, which was to have the kitchen tidy before going to bed every night. well, it's only a few days into the month and I haven't cleaned it at all. But this is because during January I came to the decision that I cannot stand to be the one who always clears up - I totally resent it, and it totally annoys me, and to be honest, I imagine it will only teach my brothers bad habits. So I will endeavour to clean my own dishes, but not theirs - or at least, only doing theirs if I've done all mine and there is still capacity in the water/drying rack. I'm nobody's house elf!
In other news, this entry has been posted from my brand new computer! I've got myself and Acer Aspire, that has a whole terrabyte of hard drive. Which just sounds massive, considering that the first I remember of these things, 512 megabytes was a larger option for a hard drive. Astonishing really what we can achieve these days. Unfortunately, blogging from my computer makes it much harder to include photos. I haven't really touched my camera for a while and I've not yet got as far as loading anything from my phone on to my computer - a task for another day! I'm also hoping to be able to retrieve all the data from my old hard drive as well - thousands of photos, and the most up to date version of my novel were both saved on that computer and not properly backed up!
I hope you're all well, and I'm planning that you all get to hear from me a lot more frequently now that I'm back on a bigger screen!
Love and hugs

New Year's Resolutions
Happy Hogmanay everyone!
This year, I have decided not to make just one resolution but twelve! I'm not very good at keeping resolutions - goodness knows why...
Each month, I'm going to attempt to keep a different resolution, and that will stand me in good stead for carrying on for the rest of the year. And of course, I'm telling you them here, so that you can hold me to it! This novel idea I read on the Unclutter blog over the past year - Erin who keeps that blog has had a different resolution every month for 2011 and it seems to have worked for her.

The second part of my plan comes from something I recently read on Lifehacker. The tip come from Jerry Seinfeld, the comedian, who keeps track of his progress on a resolution (his was writing every day) with a wall chart and a red marker pen. If he is successful that day, then he puts a big cross on that day. After a week or so, he gets a run going and this motivates him to keep on going. Sounds good to me anyway :)
What are your resolutions for this year? And what's your plan for ACTUALLY achieving them?
Love and hugs
